Crystal Deodorant

One of the easiest areas to cut back on waste is the bathroom: so many toiletries can be DIY'd or swapped for more sustainable options! One of my favorite swaps is my new crystal deodorant in lieu of tradition sticks that come in a plastic container. I got mine here, but in the future I'd buy some somewhere else, since mine came with some plastic packaging and with a plastic dish, which while lovely, isn't necessary.

The way it works is simple: wet the stone and rub it under your arms like normal - you don't need to wait around for it to dry. It's made of mineral salts and ammonium alum, which kill the bacteria that cause body odor in the first place.

Not only does it work spectacularly (and living in the deep south I can promise you that is not a small testament), but I actually prefer it to my normal deodorant. It's not scented and doesn't irritate my under arms and doesn't leave waxy residue that's such a pain to waste off in the shower.

Reviews say it lasts for years, and for less than $8, this is an economical and eco-friendly option!
