DIY Reusable Cotton Rounds
I use cotton rounds all the time to apply toner, take off makeup, etc. I've seen many reusable versions for sale, but they look so easy to make I decided to try my hand at it! It turned out to be even easier than it looks. All you need is...
cotton cloth (perfect way to use up scrap fabric!)
cotton batting
terry cloth (optional)
Find some round object to trace and trace as many as you can fit on your scraps and cut them out. If you're using terry cloth for one side, you'll only need one circle of cotton batting. If you want both sides to be cotton fabric, cut out two rounds of batting to give it some structure.
Pin the layers with a single pin in the center and slowly serge the outer edge. If you don't have a serger, a close zig-zag works just fine. Overlap your serging a little to make sure it's secure. You can use fun colors on the edges, I may be boring, but you don't have to be!
Press them with an iron to make them less curly. You shouldn't have to do this every time, just the first time to make the seam lie flat.
These can be used any way you might a normal disposable round, but if you use them for nail polish, set those aside just for that purpose, as I'm not sure the polish would wash out.
I keep a lingerie bag under my sink and wash the lot at the end of the week on delicate and tumble dry low.
